Belle Plaine Specialty Care notes the following August activities:

Aug. 4: Decorating wood boxes, 2 p.m.

Aug. 11: Music by Jim Magdefrau.

Aug. 15: Travel program with Karen Bradley, 2 p.m.

Aug. 17: Fair games and funnel cakes, 2 p.m.

Aug. 21: Music by Jolene Blanchard, 11:45 a.m.

Aug. 22: Food council meeting, 1:30 p.m.; resident council meeting, 2 p.m.

Aug. 24: Making collages, 2 p.m.

Aug. 31: Bingo with Care Initiatives Hospice, 2 p.m.

The 72nd annual firemen’s dance will be held Friday, Aug. 4, in Franklin Park, Belle Plaine. Entertainment runs from 8 p.m. to midnight with music by Blake Jack and South 35.

Tickets are $10 at the door; ages 12 and under are free. This is an outdoor event and there are tables and seating available but feel free to bring your own chairs. Door prize tickets will be available as well throughout the evening. All proceeds go toward the purchase of new gear and equipment for the department. The average cost of a set of bunker gear, per person, ranges from $3,000 to $4,000 and SCBA's run $7,000 to $9,000 a piece.

The fourth annual Hooligans car show to benefit the Keystone Fire Department will be held Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Main Street in Keystone. All years of cars, trucks and motorcycles are invited. Entry fee is $15 and awards are at 2 p.m. Event will be held rain or shine.

There will be raffles, a 50/50 drawing and the fire department will serve breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. and lunch from noon to 2 p.m.

The Keystone Turners tractorcade will be held Saturday, Aug. 19. Registration is from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and riders depart from the Turner Hall at 10 a.m. Entry fee is $40 and rider fee is $20.

The route is: Keystone, Van Horne, Newhall (lunch break), Shellsburg, Benton County Fairgrounds in Vinton (45 minute break) and back to Keystone. For more information, contact Nick Rinderknecht, Landon Lohf or Brad Sievers.

Monday, Aug. 7: Pork loin, sweet potatoes, escalloped corn, muffin, cinnamon applesauce, bread and butter.

Tuesday, Aug. 8: Fish, peas and mushrooms, fruit salad, oatmeal cookie, bread and butter.

Wednesday, Aug. 9: Hot dog/bun, baked beans, potato salad, tropical fruit, dessert, ice cream.

Thursday, Aug. 10: Beef stew, mixed green salad/dressing, fresh melon, dessert, crackers, dinner roll.

Friday, Aug. 11: Pulled pork sandwich, Hawaiian coleslaw, vegetable, graham crackers, Jell-O.
